Maddie is the beautiful white dog wearing the “Adopt Me” bandana. She’s a wonderful mix of sorts, but one thing is certain—she is one of the most lovable dogs you’ll ever meet! Maddie is ready to share all that love with a family of her own. 💜

Indy is a handsome male cattle dog mix. He’s very well trained, smart, and ready to impress his future family with everything he knows! 🐶

Both of these wonderful dogs are looking for loving homes. Please share this post to help Maddie and Indy find their people!

📢 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: PROTECT YOUR PETS FROM EXTREME HEAT

During the summer months, asphalt and concrete can become dangerously hot and may cause serious burns to your pet’s paws.

For your pet’s safety:

• Avoid walks during the middle or hottest part of the day.
• Walk during the cooler morning or evening hours.
• Check the pavement temperature before every walk.
• Provide fresh, clean water and adequate shade daily.
• Never leave a pet unattended in a parked vehicle.
• Do not leave pets tied up for extended periods.
• Clean up after your pets.

Our animals depend on us for their safety, health, and well-being. As responsible pet owners, it is our duty to protect them and give them the best life possible.

Please share this important reminder and help keep our community’s pets safe.

🎆🇺🇸 **4th of July PSA: Keep Your Dogs Safe This Independence Day! ** 🐶❤️

The Fourth of July is one of the busiest times of the year for animal shelters. Loud fireworks can cause even the calmest dogs to panic and run away.

Before the celebrations begin:
🏠 Keep your pets indoors in a secure area.
🏷️ Make sure they're wearing a collar with up-to-date ID tags.
📱 Verify that their microchip information is current.
🎵 Help reduce anxiety by playing music or leaving the TV on to help mask the sound of fireworks.

If your dog does get loose, act quickly by checking your neighborhood, contacting local shelters and veterinarians, and posting clear photos on community pages.

A few simple precautions today can help keep your best friend safe at home tonight.

Have a fun, safe, and Happy 4th of July from all of us at the Douglas Animal Shelter! 🇺🇸🐾
