💜 Georgia Recovers in Communities is coming to Coffee Regional Medical Center, Friday, September 4th! 🚌

We are honored to host the Georgia Council for Recovery’s Georgia Recovers in Communities Bus Tour from 9:00–11:00 a.m. at Coffee Regional Medical Center — and this stop is a special one.

📍 First stop in Douglas
🏥 First stop ever held at a medical facility
📢 Policy stop for the statewide tour

The Georgia Recovers in Communities Bus Tour makes more than 70 stops across Georgia each September, bringing communities together to raise awareness about substance use disorders, celebrate recovery and strengthen connections between healthcare and community resources.

From 9:00–10:15 a.m., join us for an engaging panel discussion focused on how addiction and recovery affect our communities and the important role healthcare and community resources play in supporting individuals and families.

Then, from 10:15–11:00 a.m., attendees will have the opportunity to sign the recovery bus with messages of hope and encouragement, in memory of loved ones lost to addiction, or simply as a show of support and solidarity in the fight against substance use disorders. 💜

📅 Friday, September 4th
⏰ 9:00–11:00 a.m.
📍 Coffee Regional Medical Center — Meeting Rooms 102 & 103, outside the cafeteria
🚌 The recovery bus will be parked just outside the cafeteria entrance.

We hope you’ll join us for this meaningful event as we raise awareness, inspire hope and strengthen our community’s commitment to recovery.

Together, we can remind our community that recovery is possible — and no one has to walk that journey alone. 💜

What a great turnout for our August Power Lunch! We welcomed 76 attendees Thursday at the Douglas Golf & Country Club for another opportunity to connect, learn and stay informed about what’s happening in our community.

A special thank you to Williams Institutional Foods for sponsoring this month’s luncheon and to Coffee Regional Medical Center for serving as our featured program.

Dr. Lora Denton shared an important look at the physician shortage facing Georgia—particularly rural communities—and the work being done right here in Coffee County to address it.

One of the biggest takeaways: where physicians train matters. Approximately 50% of residents remain in the state where they complete their training, and rural training significantly increases the likelihood that a physician will ultimately choose to practice in a rural community.

CRMC’s rural residency program is more than a healthcare initiative—it’s an investment in the future of our community and our ability to recruit and retain physicians right here at home. As Dr. Denton shared, a primary care residency program is one of the strongest workforce development strategies for addressing the physician shortage.

Thank you to CRMC and everyone working to strengthen the future of healthcare in Douglas and Coffee County!

Want to join us next month? You do NOT have to be a Chamber member to attend!

Power Lunch is held the fourth Thursday of each month at noon at the Douglas Golf & Country Club.

📅 Next Power Lunch: Thursday, September 24

Come have lunch with us—we’d love to see you there!

We’re cheering extra loud today for Kiran Reddy! 👑✨

Kiran, Miss Georgia Teen USA, is competing for the title of Miss Teen USA today in Miami, Florida — and we are incredibly proud to see one of our former Chamber Student Ambassadors representing Douglas, Coffee County, and the entire state of Georgia on the national stage!

We had the opportunity to watch Kiran’s leadership, confidence, and heart firsthand through our Student Ambassador program, and it has been so much fun watching her continue to shine.

Kiran, your Chamber family is cheering you on all the way from Coffee County! We are so proud of you and can’t wait to watch you take the stage! 👑

Let’s give our local nonprofits some love today.

What’s a nonprofit, community organization, ministry or volunteer group in Coffee County that you think more people should know about?

Maybe you volunteer with them. Maybe they’ve helped someone you know. Maybe you just think they’re doing really good work.

Tag them in the comments and tell us what they do!

Our goal: Fill these comments with organizations doing good things in our community — and maybe help a few people discover a cause they’d like to get involved with along the way.
