Update from Emergency Management. The surge for the Walnut River is estimated to hit the Douglass area around 7AM Thursday morning. Preliminary estimates show the water reaching River Valley Supply but not encroaching into the city. This will more than likely cause SW 210th between the Walnut River Bridge and Riverview to be closed. As stated this is an estimate only. Thanks and be safe.

Citizens around the Douglass area, please be aware over the next 72 hours we could experience possible flooding due to the heavy rainfall in the northern part of the County. Make any preparations in advance and use extreme caution. Remember, DO NOT drive through high water. Thanks and stay safe

Butler County Fire District #8 responded at 7:37 PM tonight to assist Cowley County Fire District #2 Atlanta on a very large and complex Structure Fire. District 8 responded with 8 fireman, two command trucks, an engine and two tankers. Always glad to lend a hand to our neighbors to the east.

It has been a busy day for the department. While the afternoon brought several calls, we continued with our evening plans. Our annual fire banquet is an opportunity to recognize our fire fighters for their dedication to the department and show gratitude to their families who allow them to provide this service! We appreciate each and every one of you!!!

Butler County Fire District #8 responded last night to assist Butler County Fire District #3 with a well envolved house fire with Pumper 88, Pumper 85, Tank 86 and command along with 9 personnel. It was a cold night but glad to be able to help our fellow Fire districts whenever we can. Great job by all departments to get the blaze under control with all the challenges.
