D Team from Douglas County E-911 was in the building! 🎳🔥

We traded headsets for bowling balls and showed up for Heroes 9/11 Night with Douglas County Fire/EMS Department. A little friendly competition, a lot of laughs, and an opportunity to spend time with the public safety family we work alongside every day.

Because apparently saving the day from behind the console wasn’t enough, D Team decided they needed to see what they could do in the lanes too. 😂

Great night, great people, and a great way to honor, remember, and enjoy some well-earned fellowship.

E-911 showed up, showed out, and had a BALL. 🎳💛

⚠️ FLASH FLOOD WARNING: USE EXTREME CAUTION

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect, and multiple roadways are experiencing flooding, particularly in the western portion of Douglas County.

Please use extreme caution if you must travel. Never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway. Water may be deeper than it appears, and road conditions beneath the water may be compromised.

If you encounter a flooded road, turn around and find an alternate route.

Please avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas and allow emergency and road crews room to respond.

🇺🇸Today began with Douglas County’s Patriot Day Ceremony, as we paused to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the courage witnessed that day, and the first responders and public servants who answered when our nation needed them most.

September 11th, reminds us that public service is ultimately a choice, a choice to answer, to act, and to be present in moments that ask something of us.

It was especially meaningful, then, that later today The Blu Rose Art Bistro recognized local first responders, and Douglas County E 9-1-1 selected Supervisor Aundrea Morris.

Andrea was working in 9-1-1 on September 11, 2001. Twenty-five years later, she is still answering the call.

A 30+ year E 9-1-1 veteran, Andrea now helps lead our CPR, quality assurance, and auxiliary services efforts. Her decades of service represent the quiet, enduring commitment that Patriot Day calls us to remember and honor.

Today, we remember those we lost, honor those who served, and thank those who continue to choose service.

We will never forget. ❤️🤍💙

This is what we do at Douglas County E-911.

We teach. We cross-train. We share knowledge. We create opportunities for our people to understand more than just the seat they sit in today.

Our Radio Systems Administrator spent time with one of our Communications Training Officers learning about trunking, radio systems, and the language behind the technology that keeps our public safety partners connected.

Succession is not just about preparing someone to take a position. It is about making sure institutional knowledge does not live with one person. It is exposing people to different parts of the operation, building capacity, and creating a workforce that understands how it all connects.

We grow our people, and we protect the knowledge that keeps the mission moving forward.

HR 1243 proposes a constitutional amendment that would authorize the creation of a Georgia Next Generation 9-1-1 Fund, with dedicated funding specifically for the expansion, maintenance, operation, and transition to Next Generation 9-1-1 across our state.

And ultimately, Georgia voters will have a say in November.

The Georgia Authorize Creation of Next Generation 9-1-1 Fund Amendment is on the ballot in Georgia as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment on November 3, 2026.

National Night Out is an annual community-building event that strengthens the relationship between first responders and the communities we serve. It is an opportunity to meet your local public safety professionals, ask questions, learn about the resources available to you, and build the trust that helps keep our neighborhoods safe.

While you may know us as the voices behind 911, tonight we’re stepping out from behind the headsets and into the community. We look forward to connecting with residents, sharing what we do, and celebrating the partnerships that make Douglas County stronger.

While emergency communications professionals are known for answering calls during someone’s worst day, effective leadership behind the scenes is just as important. Strong leaders build resilient teams, foster a culture of accountability, support employee well-being, and ensure that the systems and people our community depends on are prepared to respond when every second counts.

Please do not call 911 for updates during an active emergency. Calling 911 for information ties up emergency lines that must remain available for those who need immediate assistance. Official updates will be shared through the appropriate channels as information becomes available.

Update...8/1/26, 10:50pm: Law enforcement has investigated the bomb threat and confirmed that everything is safe. Arbor Place Mall and the movie theatre will remain closed for the night. 8/1/26, 6pm. Arbor Place Mall has been evacuated due to a bomb threat. More information will be released when available.
