Patrol Division
A patrol officer conducted a traffic stop on I-20EB at Chapel Hill in reference to speeding. The driver was also charged with Poss. of M**h, Poss. of Sch 2, Poss. of Sch 4, Poss. of misdemeanor ma*****na and drug related objects.
On July 2 patrol responded to an apartment complex off Dallas Hwy regarding a disturbance. On arrival, officers learned it was domestic related with the suspect causing significant damage to property at the residence. The suspect had fled the scene but the department’s K-9 unit was on scene, tracked and apprehended the suspect hiding under a brush pile. The suspect was charged with Criminal Damage to Property under family violence and obstruction of officers
Crime Reduction Unit
On July 25, 2026 CRU conducted a traffic stop on a Chrysler 300 due to an inoperable headlight. The vehicle was occupied by 2 adults and 5 juveniles and none of them were wearing seatbelts. K9 was called to conduct an open-air sniff on the vehicle and he alerted. A search was conducted and a stolen G***k firearm with a "switch," making it a fully automatic was located in the rear floorboard, and less than an ounce of ma*****na was located in the trunk and a digital scale. One juvenile had a full extradition warrant from Mississippi. Another juvenile claimed the firearm and was charged with theft by receiving, possession of a machine gun and person under 18 with firearm.
Special Operations
The Special Operations Unit, with the assistance of Douglasville’s Crime Reduction Unit, recently wrapped up an investigation involving the illegal sale of ma*****na at and near the Express L**e and Tire located at 6448 Church Street. One person associated with the business was arrested for sales of ma*****na.
Detectives
On 06/19/2026, Detectives responded to assist Patrol at a location on Somer Ridge Court. The male and female on scene had been involved in a domestic dispute involving fi****ms. It was determined that during the argument, the female used or attempted to use three (3) different fi****ms against the male, with one round being fired off during a struggle. The third firearm was was then used by the male subject in a defensive manner to strike the female when she was trying to attack him. The male gathered all three (3) fi****ms and put them in a bag to turn over to law enforcement. The female was charged with Aggravated Assault, Criminal Trespass (FVA), and Reckless Conduct.
On 07/07/2026, Detectives responded to a Patrol call at a local hotel. The Defendant left her four male children (ages 10, 5, 4, and 2) alone in their room while she went to service a “client”. One of the children went to another room asking for food. The mother was gone for five (5) hours before returning, even though she knew officers had been on scene for over two (2) hours already. The mother was charged with Cruelty to Children in the Second Degree and Reckless Conduct.
