🔥 OPERATIONS SPOTLIGHT: Meet Autumn Summers! 🚒

Some people become EMTs because they want to help people.

Autumn did that … then decided it wasn’t enough. So she got her fire certifications because, well, “fighting fire is really cool—and who wouldn’t want to do that?” 😂

Now FF Summers is working toward her Relief Driver qualification and has her sights set on continuing to grow within the department.

But ask FF Summers what makes the job great, and the answer isn’t just the calls—it’s the crew.

“Your crew is like your family. You know you have solid people to lean on in the fun times and when you all need to be serious.”

🚒 Off duty: You’ll find Autumn hanging out with family and friends, cooking, and regularly deciding, “I’ve never made this before…let’s try it.” 👨‍🍳

From patient care to fireground operations and learning the ropes behind the wheel, FF Summers is always looking for another way to be useful—and we’re pretty glad to have her on the team.

Keep learning. Keep growing. Keep contributing. And yes…fire is pretty cool. 🔥

Join us in congratulating Captain Daniel Norris on 21 years with DCFD! 🎉

Captain Norris serves as a Firefighter, Paramedic, and is a valued leader on the DCFD HAZMAT Team. His dedication, experience, and commitment to serving our community have made a lasting impact over the past two decades.

Outside of the firehouse, Captain Norris enjoys traveling, hunting, fishing, farming, and working in his garden. He and his wife, Mandy, have two children, two dogs, and several chickens. 🐕🐕🐔

Last Friday, members of the DCFD Training Division, Recruit Class 0926, and several of our field personnel came together at the Training Complex to complete a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.

Each step was taken in remembrance of the 343 firefighters and all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Their courage, sacrifice, and service will never be forgotten.
