Last week, the Douglas County Fire/EMS Training Division hosted an Apparatus Operator – Aerial (AOPL) course.

Students received hands-on training in aerial apparatus setup and operation, apparatus positioning, stabilization, ladder and platform operations, and elevated master-stream deployment. This course helps prepare our personnel to operate aerial apparatus safely, efficiently, and effectively during emergency incidents.

Thank you to our instructors and everyone who helped make the course possible. Congratulations to all personnel who successfully completed the course!

🧬 Brothers by Blood. Firefighters by Choice.🔥

Some families share a last name. These brothers share a calling.

Serving side by side at Douglas County Fire & EMS, they answer the same alarms, face the same challenges, and stand shoulder to shoulder protecting the community they call home.

The bond between brothers is built over a lifetime. The bond between firefighters is forged through service, sacrifice, and trust. When those two worlds come together, it's a reminder that being part of the fire service is more than a profession—it's family.

Thank you Hoke brothers, and all the other siblings we have, for working together!

❤️ Family by blood.
🚒 Brothers in the fire service.
🏡 Committed to one community.

🚨 Joint Training: AquaEye Underwater Sonar Demonstration 🚨

Today, the Douglas County Fire/EMS Training Division, Douglas County Fire/EMS Technical Rescue Team (TRT), Austell Fire Department, and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources came together for a hands-on demonstration and evaluation of the AquaEye underwater sonar system.

The AquaEye is a portable, handheld sonar device designed to rapidly locate submerged victims by scanning large underwater search areas in real time. The system is capable of marking potential targets with GPS coordinates, allowing dive teams to quickly and accurately focus their search efforts. By reducing search times and increasing efficiency, this technology has the potential to enhance both responder safety and victim recovery operations.

Training alongside our regional partners and evaluating emerging technology helps ensure we remain prepared to provide the highest level of service when our community needs us most.

A special thank you to everyone who participated and made today’s training a success. Opportunities like these strengthen interagency partnerships and help keep our responders ready for the challenges they may face.

Train together. Learn together. Serve together.
