Today, we had the pleasure of hosting interns from Fulton County Superior Court Judge Schwall’s office. The group spent time with District Attorney Dalia Racine and several members of our team, gaining insight into the work of the District Attorney’s Office and the many roles that contribute to the pursuit of justice.

Thank you to Judge Schwall and his team for the opportunity to connect with the next generation of legal professionals. We enjoyed sharing our experiences and discussing careers in public service.

As we round out Victims' Rights Week, we are proud to highlight a program making a direct impact on victims and families right here in our community, our Goodwill Guardian Program.

Launched through a partnership between the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office and the Douglas County Chamber Foundation, this program was created to meet a critical need: helping victims recover from the financial burdens caused by crime.

Through Goodwill Guardian, funds are used to repair or replace essential items damaged as a result of a crime.

This program goes beyond the courtroom by providing real, tangible support that helps victims move forward, regain stability, and begin the healing process.

Thanks to the generosity of community partners, businesses, and donors, Goodwill Guardian continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

If you are interested in supporting this program, please call our office to speak with one of our advocates.

This week, we are proud to shine a spotlight on a few of organizations and programs that stand alongside victims and survivors in our community by providing critical support, resources, and hope to them.

Juvenile Court Programs works closely with our Juvenile Court Team to provide quality services for children, youth, parents, and families. Their efforts focus on treatment, rehabilitation, supervision, strengthening family systems, and reducing recidivism.
They also offer a comprehensive resource guide with valuable information on services available throughout Douglas County:

SHAREHouse provides crisis intervention and support to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. Their services include a 24/7 crisis line, emergency shelter, transitional housing, support groups, protective order assistance, counseling, and more.

The Trinity Center serves survivors of domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault through comprehensive, trauma-informed care. Services include a 24/7 crisis line, forensic medical exams and interviews, counseling, support groups, safety planning, and protective order assistance.

These organizations are essential partners in ensuring victims are supported, heard, and empowered.

At the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office, we are grateful to work alongside each of them as we continue seeking justice with excellence and integrity.

This week marks National Crime Victims’ Rights Week!

Forty-five years ago, President Ronald Reagan brought national attention to a truth that still guides our work today, that victims deserve to be seen, heard, and supported.

That call to action led to meaningful change, including the President’s Task Force on Victims of Crime, the creation of the Office for Victims of Crime, and the passage of the Victims of Crime Act establishing critical funding and services for survivors across the country.

Each April, this week serves as a time for communities to come together to honor survivors, amplify their voices, and recognize the progress made, all while acknowledging there is still work to be done.

At the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office, we honor the strength of victims and survivors and remain committed to ensuring every individual is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.

As we celebrate both Passover and Easter this season, the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office extends our warmest wishes to all in our community observing these meaningful holidays.

Passover and Easter each represent themes of renewal, hope, and freedom—values that resonate deeply in the work we do every day in pursuit of justice and service to others. We are reminded of the importance of faith, reflection, and compassion as we continue striving to serve our community with integrity and fairness.

We wish you and your families peace, joy, and renewal during this special time.

April is Autism Awareness Month, and here at the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office, we recognize the importance of understanding, inclusion, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by autism.
As public servants, we are committed to ensuring that every member of our community is treated with dignity, fairness, and respect. That includes being mindful of the unique needs and experiences of individuals on the autism spectrum—whether they are victims, witnesses, or members of the public we serve each day.
This month, we encourage our community to learn more, show compassion, and support one another. Together, we can continue building a safer, more inclusive Douglas County for all.
