March 26 is Women’s Equal Pay Day.

This day marks how far into the new year women must work to earn what men earned in the previous year. For all women that is today but for Black women that day doesn't come until July 21st and for Hispanic women, October 8, 2026. Equal pay isn’t just about fairness, it’s about economic security, opportunity, and building generational wealth for women and families across Delaware. Learn more about the gender pay gap, and what Delaware is doing to close it, in our new fact sheet.

The Delaware Legislative Women’s Caucus joins the state in mourning the passing of a true pioneer in Delaware government: Senator Nancy Cook.

While we are saddened by this news, we are profoundly moved by the path she paved for every woman serving in Legislative Hall today. Senator Cook’s legacy is defined by 'firsts'. She was the first Democratic woman in the State Senate and the first woman to chair the Joint Finance Committee, but her impact was far more than symbolic.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, she championed the balanced budgets and Rainy Day Fund that still secure Delaware’s financial future today. We owe her a great debt of gratitude for her decades of leadership.

Inducted into the Delaware Women’s Hall of Fame in 1998, her service remains a gold standard for the First State.

But what matters most is the legacy left in the hearts of loved ones. Our thoughts and condolences are with her family.

The House was thrilled to welcome students from across the state for our first-ever Women and Girls Student Job Shadow Day. High school and college-age women got a front-row seat to the legislative process.

It was a packed day of empowerment as students shadowed Delaware Female House Representatives, toured the Capitol, and observed committee hearings.

From networking with leaders to joining us on the House floor, these young women got a true behind-the-scenes look at state government.

Thank you to the Office of Work Based Learning and DelTech for finding such great students!

On behalf of the Delaware Legislative Women's Caucus, I want to share a heartfelt thank you to the incredible panelists who joined us yesterday. The depth, care, and expertise they brought to our discussion were transformative.

I’ve been reflecting on our preparation and the fantastic feedback we’re already receiving from attendees. It’s clear that this conversation sparked many "aha" moments for all of us.

A few key insights that are staying with me:

The Balance of Spaces: We discussed the vital need for a dual approach. We need a dual approach: balancing gender-integrated spaces with separate, safe environments where everyone feels empowered to speak honestly.

The Power of Peer Support: A powerful reminder that men and boys often rely most on their peers. Our strategies must focus on empowering these natural support networks.

Closing the Middle School "Gap": We talked specifically about the critical middle school years where we often "lose" young men to isolation. Identifying the financial and resource barriers they face gives us much-needed clarity for our future advocacy.

I am energized by the collaborative path we are building. By intentionally calling men "in" to this work, we are creating a stronger, more unified front to tackle the roots of inequality together.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible!

I also want to thank the Governor Matt Meyer for attending and my colleagues Sen. Dave Sokola, Sen. Bryan Townsend, Sen. Eric Buckson, Sen. Russ Huxtable, Rep. Michael Smith, Rep. Lary Lambert, Rep. Kam Smith, Rep. Sophie Phillips, Rep. Rich Collins for showing up for women and men.

Today, Rep. Madinah Wilson-Anton presented a resolution recognizing Women’s History Month. During her remarks, she made a point to emphasize how Women’s History includes ALL of us!

“Women's History Month is crucial for honoring the often-overlooked contributions of women to history, culture, and society.

“Women’s History Month gives us the opportunity to acknowledge women’s struggles, celebrate their achievements and vision, and renew our commitment to continued gender equality.

“Women’s history isn’t just about famous figures; it’s also about teachers, caregivers, entrepreneurs, advocates, and community leaders who make a difference every day.

“While we celebrate the progress made, Women’s History Month is also a reminder that work remains to ensure equal opportunities and representation.”
