This past Monday, we paused to remember.
Before the games, the food, and the laughter on the water — we honored the men and women who never made it home.
Memorial Day isn't just a long weekend. It's a debt we carry.
This Memorial Day, Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Delaware Wing cadets and senior members from the Delaware Air National Guard (DANG), Brandywine, and Middletown squadrons gathered for our annual picnic — and it was exactly what this day should feel like: Fellowship, gratitude, and joy shared with people bound by the same sense of duty.
The afternoon was full of fishing, kayaking, water boarding, games, and good food surrounded by even better company. This is what Civil Air Patrol is built on.
CAP's 60,000 volunteers give their time, energy, and expertise to their communities, not because they have to, but because service is woven into who they are.
The cadet program transforms young people into aerospace leaders through a curriculum built on leadership, aerospace, fitness, and character — and days like Monday show them what that character looks like in action.
To every fallen service member who made this freedom possible — we see you. We remember. We don't take it lightly.
