The Kentucky Gateway Museum located in Maysville, Kentucky recently hosted a seminar on wooden covered bridges. Author Melissa Jurgensen spoke on the history of covered bridges in Kentucky. Buffalo Trace Covered Wooden Bridge Authority Chair, Lori Ulrich spoke on efforts to save the Dover Bridge.

Thank you to Andrew Henderson at the Lexington Herald-Leader for his recent column on efforts to save the Dover Covered Bridge.

Built in 1835, the Dover Covered Bridge in Mason County is falling into disrepair. The community is rallying together to save it.

Thank you to our friends at the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges. They recently shared information on our efforts in their Fall newsletter. The NSPCB has been instrumental in our efforts. We thank them for drawing attention to not only Dover but all of the Covered Bridges in the Buffalo Trace Area.

We were pleased to host WLEX TV out of Lexington at the bridge today. Thank you to all of those seeking to save Dover!

Porter says there are 11 covered bridges left in the state of Kentucky. This is the oldest, built in 1835. Six of the other 11 are in counties neighboring Mason County.
