Behind every long-standing business is a story of persistence, creativity, and commitment to community.
This week, Down to Business highlights Susan Hanna, owner of SEH Studios Art Gallery & Dover Art Supply , as she celebrates 15 years in business. Susan’s journey, from a self-taught artist to building a gallery, teaching studio, and now a full art supply shop, reflects the kind of resilience and adaptability that defines Dover’s small business community.
Her story is a reminder that successful businesses aren’t built overnight; they grow over time through dedication, risk-taking, and a deep passion for the work.

Overnight Water Outages Scheduled for Wednesday & Thursday Nights (please note: the affected outage area has expanded from last week’s notice)

As part of the Central Avenue Urban Core Water Improvements Project, overnight water service interruptions will occur on Wednesday, April 22, and Thursday, April 23, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM (or earlier if work is completed).
These temporary outages are necessary for the contractor to install isolation valves to support the replacement of the water main on Central Avenue and to allow sections of the system to be shut down safely during future construction.
Businesses, property owners, and residents in the affected areas should plan ahead for temporary overnight water service interruptions on both nights.
Parking will be prohibited in active work areas, and motorists should expect lane shifts and detours during construction hours.
The same properties will be affected both nights. Impacted areas include portions of:
• Central Avenue
• Abbey Sawyer Memorial Drive
• Brick Road
• Second Street
• Third Street
• Fourth Street
• Sixth Street
• Chestnut Street
• Old Rollinsford Road
If your property is located in the project zone, please review the full address list and outage maps here:

For after-hours concerns during the outage, please contact Dover Police Dispatch at 603-742-4646.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as this important infrastructure work moves forward to strengthen our utilities for the future.
