The Dover Fire Department is a volunteer service which is made up of approximately twenty-four members. The Department provides fire and rescue services to the City of Dover and through contracts provides services to all of Dover Township and parts of Quincy and Elmira Townships. Each February the department holds a joint meeting with the City and contracting Towns to discuss the department’s budg

et, goals and objectives. In addition, an agreement is in place to provide automatic mutual aid with the Eyota Fire Department which combines both the Dover and Eyota Fire Departments responses to the areas covered by both fire departments. The department responds to approximately sixty (60) calls per year. Membership meets are held at least twice monthly on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month and usually begin at 7:00 PM. All department meetings are open to the public and anyone who is interested is welcome to attend. All new members of the department are required to complete a training course as outlined by the Department Chief. All members are required to complete a specified number of training hours each year in order to keep up with skills. In addition to fire protection the department provides fire educational services to schools and organizations within the community. The department also sponsors many youth organizations and activities in the community. Each year on the July 3rd the Department sponsors a community celebration including fireworks. Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Department please contract Richard Jones at 932-5308.

4/13 2:55 PM: Strong to severe storms are already starting to go up along the warm front across portions of Southeast Minnesota and West Central Wisconsin. These storms are expected to get their act together rather quickly, posing a large hail threat off the jump. A lot of the hail threat will depend on if these storms can stay discrete. Once these storms congeal into a line, the hail threat will start to wane.

With severe storms on deck across the area this afternoon and evening, we wanted to remind you all of some hail safety. If you're at home, stay indoors and away from windows. If you're on the road, try to pull over and stop (not under an overpass - it can cause a bottleneck and prevent emergency workers from getting through)! Stay safe this afternoon
