The City of Dover End of Summer Celebration has begun with the start of the American Legion 5k this morning.

Other events today include:

-Home Run Debry at noon
-Dover City Sluggers vs Canal Dover Red Legs at 1pm in an old time baseball game.
-The Dover Car Show from 5-8 pm
-Free train rides for kids beginning at 4 pm
-Free swimming all day at Dover City Pool
-Live music and food vendors throughout the whole day.
-Fireworks beginning a little after 8:30 pm.

*** Public Service Announcement ***

The City of Dover Electric Field Department is currently working to restore power to the areas affected by a windstorm outage along a portion of the east side of town.

Crews have identified the cause of the outage and we hope to have power restored as soon as possible. However, due to system damage from very large fallen trees this may take time.

We apologize for this temporary inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

What a great evening! A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who helped make our campaign fundraising event last night such a wonderful success. We are incredibly grateful to our hosts, supporters, friends, and everyone who contributed their time, energy, and generosity.

A special thank-you to School House Winery for providing such a beautiful venue, Benson’s Catering for the delicious food, and Pam Johnson for helping with check-in and keeping everything running smoothly.

The incredible turnout, support, and enthusiasm mean so much to us. We’re truly grateful for everyone who came out and helped make the evening so special.

We’re excited about what’s ahead and looking forward to a busy, exciting, and successful 2027 campaign!

Monday was a big day for the City of Dover!

Yesterday, I was fortunate to join other local and regional development officials to speak to the Ohio Tax Credit Authority in support of ProVia's application for state economic development assistance to expand into our community.

The company was approved based upon a commitment of $110 million in new private investment, 400 new jobs and $27 million in annual payroll in our city. More details on the specifics of the development will be released by the company soon.

This is a tremendous business expansion for Dover and Tuscarawas County! It will provide good paying jobs for our residents and strengthen our tax base.

I'm looking forward to a great partnership with ProVia in the City of Dover for many years to come!

Another great project is about to begin!

The City of Dover is currently accepting bids to renovate the former City Auditor's, Utilities, and Service Director's Offices for badly needed additional space for our Fire Department.

The project will mark the most significant improvement to our downtown fire station since the 1950's and will help improve fire fighter living quarters, safety and efficiency.

Sealed Proposals in duplicate will be received by the Director of Public Service of the City of Dover, Ohio, at his office in the City Building until 10:00 o'clock am on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, and will be opened and read the same day at the same time for the furnishing of labor and materials for alterations and modifications for the previous administrative building and dormitory building for the Dover Fire Department. Congratulations to Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School on the ground breaking of their new $7 million community center and field house!
