Join us in celebrating the retirement of Master Corporal John Messick Jr., who concludes an honorable career as a Delaware State Trooper after serving the citizens of Delaware for 31 years.
John began his career with the Delaware State Police on July 21, 1995, as a recruit in the 64th DSP Academy Class. After successfully completing field training, he began his first assignment at Troop 7.
In 2000, John was assigned to the Troop 4 Governors Task Force and remained there until 2002, when he was assigned to the Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit. There, he served as a detective in the Property Crimes Unit and later in the Major Crimes Unit.
In 2011, John was assigned to the High Tech Crime Unit, where he served on the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC). In this unit, he investigated cases of child s*xual exploitation, ensuring the safety of children against these crimes. John served in this role until his retirement.
Throughout his career, John was a member of the Tactical Control Unit starting in 1998 and served on the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) from 2003 to 2016.
