"For too long, the victims of crime have been the forgotten
persons of our criminal justice system."
– Ronald Reagan (1911–2004)

In 1981, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed the first national Crime Victims Week in April.

National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is a time
to celebrate progress, raise awareness of victims’ rights
and services, and stand with those whose lives have
been forever altered.
