Through the Dover Shade Tree Commission's Tree Donation Program, donors have the option to include a commemorative plaque with their donated tree.

A donated tree can be a lasting tribute to:

🎓 A graduate

🎉 A milestone birthday or anniversary

🏆 An organization, community group, or local leader

🌳 Anyone who has made a positive impact on your life or our community

While trees grow and provide benefits for generations, a commemorative plaque can serve as a lasting reminder of the person, family, or occasion being recognized.

All plaque wording is subject to approval by the Shade Tree Commission.

💚 Every Contribution Helps 💚

Interested in supporting Dover's urban forest, but not ready to sponsor a full tree?

The Dover Shade Tree Commission welcomes donations of any amount to support tree planting and canopy expansion efforts throughout our community.

While a full tree sponsorship begins at $550, donations below that amount are placed into the Tree Donation Program fund and used toward future tree plantings in approved public spaces throughout Dover.

Whether it's $10, $25, $50, or more, every contribution helps us create a greener, healthier, and more beautiful community.

When we work together, even small contributions can make a lasting impact.

One of the most common questions we receive about the Dover Tree Donation Program is: "What does the donation cover?"

A minimum donation of $550 includes:

✔ Purchase of the tree
✔ Professional planting and installation
✔ Initial care and maintenance
✔ Coordination of tree placement and species selection

The Dover Shade Tree Commission works with the Department of Public Works to ensure each donated tree is planted in an appropriate public location where it can thrive and provide long-term benefits to our community.

🌳 How Does the Tree Donation Program Work? 🌳

Supporting Dover's urban forest is easier than you might think!

Here's how the Tree Donation Program works:

1️⃣ Complete a Tree Donation Application

2️⃣ Submit your donation

3️⃣ Work with the Shade Tree Commission and Department of Public Works on tree placement and selection

4️⃣ Your tree is planted during the spring or fall planting season

That's it!

From honoring a loved one to celebrating a milestone or simply giving back to the community, a donated tree is a lasting investment that will benefit Dover for years to come.

Planting schedules are based on the appropriate planting season and operational considerations to help ensure each tree has the best opportunity to thrive.
