The City of Dover Electric Field Department is currently working to restore power to the areas affected by a windstorm outage along a portion of the east side of town.

Crews have identified the cause of the outage and we hope to have power restored as soon as possible. However, due to system damage from very large fallen trees this may take time.

We apologize for this temporary inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

2nd update: The Flood warning has been extended until 9:30pm.

Update: The Flood Warning has been extended until 5:30 today.

Tuscawas County is under a Flood Warning until 2:30pm today.

The warning mentions the SE part of the county, but with the rain we have been getting, please be mindful of all rivers and creeks that may be rising and spilling into roadways.

Sealed Proposals in duplicate will be received by the Director of Public Service of the City of Dover, Ohio, at his office in the City Building until 10:00 o'clock am on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, and will be opened and read the same day at the same time for the furnishing of labor and materials for alterations and modifications for the previous administrative building and dormitory building for the Dover Fire Department. As many Ohio students complete their first week back at school, remember to slow down, stay alert, and eliminate distractions in school zones. With increased traffic, frequent school bus stops, and students walking or biking to school, drivers must stay alert to their surroundings.

Obey posted school-zone speed limits, watch for children entering the roadway, and remove any distractions. A few extra seconds of caution behind the wheel can make all the difference in ensuring every student arrives at school and returns home safely.

The Canton Fire Department paid recognition to firefighters involved in the August 3rd rescue of a man whose vehicle left Interstate 77 and plunged into the Nimishillen Creek. Among those recognized in the rescue was our own Firefighter Kent Thompson who also serves part time with the Bolivar Fire Department. He and firefighters Sarah Valentine and Ashley Curtner were returning from a medical transport when they were flagged down by motorists who witnessed the accident. They were able to enter the water and initiate rescue efforts prior to the arrival of the Canton Fire Department. Congratulations to everyone involved! Outstanding work!
