This Mother’s Day, we honor the incredible mothers, grandmothers, and caregivers at Community Adult Day Center. Today, our members spent the day getting our pots ready for spring planting — filling them with soil and sharing laughter, stories, and smiles along the way.

CADC is deeply honored to share that our Executive Director, Susan Sinderson, was awarded the Outstanding Fieldwork Educator by the Occupational Therapy Department at Governors State University. Each year, the College of Health and Human Services hosts a Recognition Night to celebrate Outstanding Students and Outstanding Fieldwork Educators across departments. It’s a truly meaningful evening that highlights mentorship, collaboration, and the life-giving work happening throughout the college.
We are incredibly grateful for this recognition and for the opportunity to support and mentor OT students over the years. Welcoming Level I fieldwork students, encouraging evidence-based practice, and engaging older adults in meaningful activities and occupations is work Susan cares deeply about, and we are thankful to do it alongside such dedicated learners and colleagues.

Happy Easter from all of us at Community Adult Day Center. This season of renewal is a reminder that every moment of connection, love, and compassion matters, especially for seniors living with dementia and those who care for them.

Kenzie Baker recently sang for Community Adult Day Center members at lunch. Her beautiful singing voice had many in tears. Thank you, Kenzie!

Paul Baker, Board President, brought in a very talented guest… his daughter, Kenzie Baker, who joined us at lunchtime and shared her beautiful voice with our members. It was truly a joy to watch everyone light up during her performance.

Kenzie is a senior at Timothy Christian High School and will be attending Southeastern University in Florida this fall. She has performed in four school musicals and is also a member of the Timothy Christian Chamber Choir.

Thank you, Kenzie, for sharing your talent and bringing so much joy to our day!

Spring has arrived, and there’s no better place to celebrate than in our Bloom Room!
Community Adult Day Center members welcomed the new season with a joyful and creative activity - painting with fruits and vegetables! Using asparagus, broccoli and cauliflower, they turned everyday produce into beautiful works of art!
Lots of laughter, bright colors, and a great way to welcome the season together. Who knew veggies could make such fun art projects?

CADC Executive Director Susan Sinderson accepted their generous check on behalf of a grateful Center. The DGJWC’s kindness and commitment to strengthening our community truly makes a difference. Thank you for investing in our mission and helping us continue the work we care so deeply about.

The Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club was honored to present a philanthropic donation to the Community Adult Day Center (CADC) in Downers Grove. CADC provides vital daytime care, enrichment programs, and social engagement for older adults and adults with disabilities, while also offering much-needed respite and support for their caregivers.

In addition to financial support, our members love getting involved through hands-on service. Most recently, DGJWC members and their children joined participants at CADC for a joyful craft-making day, creating meaningful connections across generations.

A special thank you to our Conservation & Community Affairs (CCA) Committee for organizing this opportunity to serve. Pictured are our current CCA Chairwomen, Meredith Van Syckle and Stephanie Ferguson, who help make these partnerships possible.

We are always proud to support the incredible work CADC does for families in our community.

Magic is happening at Community Adult Day Center!
Our one-of-a-kind Magic Table isn’t just a table, it’s a swirl of colors, shapes, and movement that brings our members together in the most joyful way! With a simple touch of a hand, fish scatter across the “water,” autumn leaves float away, and balloons bounce playfully across the table. Before you know it, the room lights up with smiles as members reach, tap, swipe, and cheer each other on.
For individuals living with dementia, the Magic Table provides:
🌟 Gentle cognitive stimulation
🌟 Encouraging movement and coordination
🌟 Meaningful social interaction
🌟 Moments of confidence and accomplishment
The Magic Table turns therapy into play - and play into connection. At Community Adult Day Center, we believe every day should have a little magic in it. ✨

Community Adult Day Center members got into the Valentine’s spirit in our “Bloom Room." Members spent the day potting beautiful flowers grown right from our hydroponic gardens. We are SO ready for spring and can’t wait to move these blooms into our outdoor planters once the weather warms up! Happy Valentine’s Day! 💕
