Huge shoutout to the dedicated educators at Culver City Unified School District who began our series to sharpen their reading instruction the very day before school started! Talk about commitment to their students.

While our TK-5 teachers stole the spotlight in these photos, a massive high-five goes out to our secondary cohort who put in the exact same hard work behind the scenes.

✨ Keeping literacy at the forefront, every step of the way!

Before students filled the classrooms, the RLA LCRSET team brought together educators from all around Los Angeles and LAUSD for engaging workshops focused on strengthening literacy across their school sites.

Attendees got the latest grant updates, connected with colleagues, and had dedicated time to develop their site literacy plans for the year ahead.

A huge shoutout to our RLA LCRSET grant duo, Mara & Patty, for leading these workshops and creating space for targeted collaboration and literacy leadership! 💙

We were honored to join State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond and the Tracy team to highlight the amazing literacy work and academic gains happening on campus! 📚✨

As a Literacy Coach Reading Specialist Educator Training (LCRSET) Grant site, Tracy Elementary is a powerful example of what happens when building educator knowledge, strategic coaching and strong leadership align.

is proud to support this transformative work as a Regional Hub Grant Lead partnering with the principal, literacy coach, and dedicated educators with professional learning, evidence-based tools, and resources needed to build instructional capacity and accelerate student literacy skills for ALL students. 🚀💡

State Superintendent Thurmond’s visit to witness this grant-funded literacy impact in action and to also thank the hardworking educators at Tracy was the ultimate way to kick off a bright new school year! Thank you SSPI Thurmond for your leadership, advocacy and steadfast support!🍎🎒

From all of us on the LACOE Reading/Language Arts team, welcome back to school! We’re excited for another year of supporting educators and creating meaningful literacy experiences for every learner.

Looking for a fun and quick community builder?
Our RLA LCRSET team recently connected with literary leaders from across LA County at two workshops and kicked things off with a “Morning Harambee,” where attendees chose their personal walk-up song.

From “Celebration” to “I Will Survive,” each workshop created its own playlist. They're too good not to share! Check out the playlists below and consider trying this fun activity with your students and staff.
