In the state of Florida, the county Tax Collectors are the funding engine powering virtually all local governments. The Hillsborough County Tax Collector is a constitutional officer whose office is responsible for the collection and distribution of property, tangible, and business taxes; processing of motor vehicle and vessel title transactions, renewing motor vehicle, vessel and mobile home registrations and issuing and renewing driver licenses. Our office also distributes tourist development taxes and issues hunting and fishing licenses. The Hillsborough County Tax Collector's office collects and distributes over $2 billion annually. The taxes distributed through our office provide revenue for many public entities including school boards, parks, roadways, and mass transit systems.

As the upcoming election draws closer, much attention around the Tampa Bay region is focused on the ballot’s Amendment 3 – property tax reform. Tampa Bay Partnership, one of Tampa’s leading civic and engagement organizations hosted Hillsborough County Tax Collector Nancy Millan and Pasco County Tax Collector Mike Fasano for a detailed discussion about the effects at the proposed amendment. The discussion was hosted by TBP Secretary/Treasurer, Brian Butler and moderated by Bemetra Simmons, the President/CEO of Tampa Bay Partnership at Centre Club in Tampa. The two Tax Collectors urged residents to vote and to learn as much as they can. Early voting has started in both counties with the election scheduled for November 3.

Hillsborough County Tax Collector Nancy Millan joined the Kiwanis Club of Tampa for their regular meeting yesterday at Jackson's Bistro. She shared updates on our ongoing efforts to expand and simplify access to vital county services. She also fielded a thoughtful Q&A with the club, engaging on questions regarding property tax reform on the upcoming ballot. Kiwanis Club of Tampa was founded in 1919 and has been helping children and seniors in the local community ever since.
