Thursday, 9/3/2026, at Krueger Memorial Hall, located at 801 Liberty Trail, Michigan City, IN 46360 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Friday, 9/4/2026, at LaPorte County Fairgrounds Community Building, located at 2581 IN-2, Laporte, IN 46350, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Alternatively, residents may apply online with FEMA at disasterassistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

You will need to bring the following information if you apply:
-Your contact information
-your social security number
-general list of damages and losses
-annual household income
-banking information if you choose direct deposit
-if insured, the policy number or the agent and/or the company name"

PLEASE NOTE: Our office will not be able to answer any questions regarding this other than dates and times when they are available. If you have questions, please contact FEMA directly.

Another resource for everyone that was passed to us this morning. We received limited information about it but we want to pass along what we have.

The Red Cross will be at the corner of B St and 4th St delivering tarps, rakes, shovels, water, and snacks sometime this morning. It was also stated that they may drive around the area as well to pass out supplies to those in need.

Unfortunately this is all the information we have, but we wanted to pass it along. We do not know anything else regarding this. If you have questions, please contact the Red Cross directly.

FSSA received approval to extend the deadline to request Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program replacement benefits for all 53 counties impacted by the Governor’s disaster emergency for the disaster event on Aug. 11. The deadline for all these counties is now Aug. 31, 2026.

Households that receive SNAP benefits who lost food due to storm damage or power outages may be eligible for replacement benefits. Affected individuals will need to submit an affidavit, available at on.in.gov/SNAP-Affidavit, for replacement benefits. The affidavit must be submitted by the above deadline and the loss (due to power outage, flood, etc.) must be verified.

The document may be uploaded to the FSSA Benefits Portal (https://fssabenefits.in.gov/bp/ #/), faxed to 888-436-9199 or dropped off at any Division of Family Resource’s office, found here: https://www.in.gov/fssa/dfr/ebt-hoosier-works-card/find-my-local-dfr-office/?fbclid=IwY2xjawT5eylwZG9mAWV4dG4DYWVtAjEwAGJyaWQRMTJNczF1NmdGMmd5NWFWNVVzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeL47IEpzUhT7MTPwEkoVc3PCBOVDoN6urJpU9gO872z3jW0CKm1lQL46em_s_aem__9PfDOgoQ_mgJgUnvnfnmA.

Our office continues to work with those who are still recovering from the storm. We have reached out to the FSSA regarding the affidavits. If you have any questions about the information in this post, please contact the FSSA office directly at 1-800-403-0864 as our office does not have access to the processing of the affidavits and whether or not they are approved and reimbursed.

Per a conversation with the FSSA they have advised that those who had received their food stamps prior to the storm on the 11th, may be reimbursed but only what they have spent of their August benefit.

If you did not receive your food stamps before the storm on the 11th you will need to be smart about your spending as your food stamps may not be reimbursed due to food loss because you had not used any of your August benefits yet.

The SNAP benefits issuance is as follows:
