We received this information this morning regarding FEMA:
"Thursday, 9/3/2026 and Friday 9/4/2026 FEMA will help residents apply for assistance with uninsured or underinsured losses caused by the storms on August 11th.
Thursday, 9/3/2026, at Krueger Memorial Hall, located at 801 Liberty Trail, Michigan City, IN 46360 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Friday, 9/4/2026, at LaPorte County Fairgrounds Community Building, located at 2581 IN-2, Laporte, IN 46350, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Alternatively, residents may apply online with FEMA at disasterassistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
If you have homeowners, renters, or flood insurance, file a claim BEFORE applying for FEMA assistance. FEMA cannot duplicate benefits for losses covered by insurance. If your policy does not cover all your disaster expenses, you may be eligible for federal assistance.
You will need to bring the following information if you apply:
-Your contact information
-your social security number
-general list of damages and losses
-annual household income
-banking information if you choose direct deposit
-if insured, the policy number or the agent and/or the company name"
