White County now has a seat at the table in multiple statewide fire leadership roles.

Jason Sparks has been named Executive Director of the Tennessee Fire and Codes Enforcement Academy, putting a local voice in charge of training firefighters across the state.

Last Fall, Doyle Fire Department’s Matt Nuzzo was appointed a State Electrical Inspector, and the department’s assistant chief, Jason Driver, stepped into a statewide outreach and education role two years ago.

These aren’t just titles — they directly impact how fire safety, inspections, and training are handled across Tennessee.

At 09:00 this morning units were dispatched to a kayak floating unoccupied on the Caney Fork river. The caller sighted the kayak from the 11,000 block of McMinnville Hwy and thought that the kayak had fishing lines deployed into the water. Crews were able to locate the original vessel, as well as a second vessel and remove them from the water. Crews began a search of the water by boat and by drone use. A short time later it was determined that the kayaks had simply been blown from the owner’s dock. We are grateful for a positive outcome. Units responded from Doyle Volunteer Fire DepartmentCentral View Volunteer Fire Department - Walling/Quebeck/Mt. Gilead, Sparta Rescue Squad, Cassville VFD, White County EMS, White County Sheriff’s Department, and Rock Island State Park.

Our Firefighter Spotlight for this quarter is Tyler Driver!!

From a young age, Tyler knew his calling was to serve others. At just 16 years old, he joined the Putnam County Fire Department Explorers Program, following in the footsteps of his father’s firefighting career. What began as youthful curiosity quickly developed into a lifelong passion for public service.

Today, Tyler proudly serves as a firefighter with the City of Crossville Fire Department while also volunteering with the Doyle Fire Department. In both roles, he demonstrates unwavering dedication to protecting lives and property. His commitment to growth and excellence is evident as he prepares to obtain his Advanced EMT certification, further strengthening his ability to serve his community during times of need.

Tyler’s character is best reflected not only in his work ethic, but in the way he carries himself. As his parents share:

“We are immensely proud of our son and the path he has chosen. He has matured into a remarkable young man who lives his life with integrity and joy.”

Tyler’s journey is a powerful example of what can be achieved through hard work, faithfulness to one’s calling, and a genuine heart for service. He represents the very best of the fire service and the communities he so faithfully protects.

Yesterday Doyle Volunteer Fire Department and several other departments assisted NorthEnd Volunteer Fire Department with a grass/wildland fire that was approximately 20 acres in size. The fire started from a prescribed burn that got out of hand.

We are grateful for volunteers that are willing to help their neighbors.
