The federal government announced recently that they are sending some Medicare beneficiaries a one-time, $90 rebate towards Part B premiums this month. This only applies to people on Original Medicare who are not getting assistance already with the premium or those who pay IRMAA. Those on Medicare Advantage Plans are not eligible either. Most beneficiaries will receive it as a direct deposit right about now followed by a letter. Others will get a check from the U.S. Treasury.

This is legitimate. However, this does open the door for scammers to call people and say that they need their bank info for this $90 to be deposited. BENEFICIARIES DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING TO RECEIVE THIS $90. Be cautious and do not give any information away on the phone.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is a great time to make your breast health a priority. Women age 60 and older should continue talking with their healthcare provider about mammograms and recommended breast cancer screenings.

Mammograms can help detect breast cancer early, when it may be easier to treat. If you’re due for a mammogram, consider making that appointment today — and encourage the women you love to do the same.
