Join us and Emmy Award winner and creator of PBS Kids’ “Alma’s Way”, Sonia Manzano, on the evening of November 14th at the Doylestown Library.

📚Presentation by Sonia Manzano and signing of her memoir, "Becoming Maria: Love & Chaos in the South Bronx"
Best known as Maria on 44 seasons of “Sesame Street,” where her work affected the lives of millions of parents and children and garnered her two Emmy Award nominations, Ms. Manzano has also been recognized with the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ Lifetime Achievement Daytime Emmy in 2016. As a writer for the show, she took home 15 Emmys. Ms. Manzano also recently received the 2022 Beacon Award from PBS.
The author of four picture books and three young adult novels, her memoir, "Becoming Maria: Love & Chaos in the South Bronx", provides the inspiration for her featured talk at the Doylestown Library. Ms. Manzano will share the personal tale of the struggles she faced growing up in a poor Puerto Rican family to eventually becoming one of the most influential Latinas in television. This poignant and inspirational story is told with Ms. Manzano’s signature wit, making this a memorable presentation for all ages.
