Local volunteers grow and deliver for donation thousands of pounds of organic vegetables to Food Pantries in Central Bucks County Pennsylvania. Volunteers don’t have to know anything about gardening, so this is a great way to learn or to share your knowledge. We welcome volunteers of all skill levels, including those with other talents such as building, clerical or distribution. Food pantries are

a valuable resource for families struggling to provide needed nutrition. But because they need to rely on an inexpensive, shelf stable and simple to prepare source of food, pantries are filled with processed foods. These are often high in salt, calories and preservatives. But it doesn’t have to be that way, fresh produce can be grown almost anywhere with only a few resources. Join us at the Doylestown Mennonite Church, 590 N. Broad Street at Sandy Ridge Road in Doylestown, PA. Come on over, invite your friends or get your own organization involved, more hands make lighter work, offer more fun and yield a better harvest!

Saturday morning’s weather is expected to be below freezing and a bit windy, so the planting that we originally planned to do will be put off until next week. Because of the weather, there won’t be a lot to do, so there’s no need for people to show up unless you have plans to work on your own plot or check on something in the garden.

Sandy Ridge Community Garden volunteers grow thousands of pounds of organic vegetables and fruits for donation to local Food Pantries for our neighbors.

Once the weather breaks, Saturday and Tuesday mornings are workdays. You can come for an hour or many and really make a difference!
