Tuesday evening, we took advantage of some great weather and completed our yearly EVOC (emergency vehicle operations course) training. This helps us to maneuver our large apparatus in ways we don’t do every day. Parallel
parking, diminishing lane,  alley dock, and reduced area turn around. This helps us sharpen our driving skills and makes us think differently then just driving down the road.

Days like today weigh heavy on the hearts of the first responder community. It was an honor to have department personnel be a part of ensuring that Srgt. Ries family could safely lay him to rest. We are grateful for his service and ultimate sacrifice. Chippewa Township Fire Department sends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and acquaintances of Sgt. Ries.

We stand with the Rittman Police Department during this unimaginable time.

We extend our deepest condolences following the loss of an officer in the line of duty and continue to pray for the recovery of the additional injured officers, and the Wayne County K9 who was injured following last night’s incident.

Our thoughts are with their families, fellow officers, first responders, and the entire Rittman community. May they find strength, comfort, and support in the days ahead.

If you saw the yellow trucks cruising around northern Wayne County today, you weren’t seeing things! Our divers spent the day alongside Marshallville Fire & Chippewa Township Fire inspecting and maintaining dry hydrants throughout the area. These valuable water sources play a critical role in protecting our rural communities. It was a great day to be in the water while helping ensure these important resources remain ready when they’re needed most.
