A Bucks County-owned bridge was recently named in honor of U.S. Army SP4 Ronald Anthony Longfellow, a Chalfont resident who died during the Vietnam War. While acting as point man on patrol on Dec. 28, 1971, Longfellow stepped on a land mine and suffered critical injuries. He succumbed to his injuries Jan. 19, 1972, after 135 days in country, becoming the last soldier from Bucks County to die in Vietnam.

This is the twenty fifth County-owned bridge since 2022 to be named for a local soldier lost in the Vietnam War. To learn more, visit buckscounty.gov/MemorialBridges.

The Bucks County Commissioners on Sunday joined fire and EMS officials from throughout Bucks County for the 2026 Fallen Firefighter and EMS Memorial Service in the courtyard of the county Administration Building. The annual gathering honors those firefighters, fire police and emergency medical personnel lost in the line of duty.

Haven’t applied for a mail-in ballot yet? Do you want to request and receive your ballot (and maybe submit it) all in one visit to a Board of Elections office? Mail-in and absentee ballots are available “on-demand” through Oct. 27, 2026, at seven locations throughout Bucks County, including campuses, County government buildings and Warminster Township Library.
