Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD). The purpose of WEAAD is to provide an opportunity for communities to promote a better understanding of abuse and neglect of older individuals by raising awareness of the cultural, social, economic and demographic processes affecting elder abuse, neglect and exploitation.

Sunburns can put a damper on summer vacations. People who drink alcohol while celebrating in the sun are less likely to wear sunscreen. Research also suggests that alcohol lowers the amount of sun exposure needed to produce burns.

Whether drinking or not, be sure to slather on the sunscreen to maximize your summer fun!

Accidental ingestions don’t take a vacation, so it’s important to always keep medicines, vitamins and supplements (especially those in gummy form) up and away and out of sight. This includes when you’re on vacation, staying in a hotel or Airbnb or as guests in someone else’s home.
