As the Bucks County Prothonotary’s Office, our role is to process PFA filings and help ensure that individuals seeking protection can navigate the court process and have their petitions handled efficiently. The Sheriff’s Office plays the critical enforcement role—serving PFA orders and helping ensure that those protections are put into action.

A 97% clearance rate is an important measure of that work, and I’m proud to work alongside Sheriff Ceisler and the many dedicated professionals who play a role in protecting people in our community.

Different roles. One shared mission: keeping Bucks County residents safe. 💛

The Bucks County Sheriff's Office is resolutely committed to protecting survivors of domestic violence to the best of our ability. We also constantly strive to improve our performance.

A Protection From Abuse Order (PFA) is Pennsylvania’s version of a restraining order and the first step to protecting some of Bucks County’s most vulnerable residents. Our expanded PFA team's diligent work serving Protection From Abuse orders resulted in a 97% clearance rate this June, up from 78% in June of last year.

Happy 250th, America! 🇺🇸

When America declared its independence in 1776, the Bucks County Prothonotary Office was already more than 90 years old!

Stay tuned throughout the month as we look back at more than 340 years of our office’s place in Bucks County history.

Hear ye! Hear ye! 📜🔔

Public participation is at the heart of a functioning government—and the crowd at this week’s Commissioners Meeting was straight out of the 1700s!

As part of Bucks County’s America 250 celebration, a town crier opened the meeting and colonial-era guests filled the room. It was a regularly scheduled Commissioners Meeting…with a special guest appearance by 1776.

Prothonotary Donna Petrecco joined fellow row officers and staff for this memorable blend of past and present.

Thanks to everyone who helped bring history to life—and reminded us that while fashions change, civic engagement never goes out of style! 🇺🇸

We asked everyone to sit for a quick photo…Nellie made sure everyone listened! 🐶💙

Before heading upstairs to provide comfort and support to people attending PFA court, Nellie stopped by the Prothonotary’s Office for a visit. While everyone else was showing off their Prothonotary gear, Nellie brought the real star power.

We’re grateful to Nellie and our other therapy dogs (and their people!) for helping to make a difficult day a little easier for those who need it most. 🐾

It was an honor to attend the 50th Anniversary celebration for A Woman’s Place and recognize five decades of advocacy, compassion, and support for individuals and families facing domestic violence and difficult circumstances.

The work they do every single day changes lives by providing safety, guidance, resources, and hope to those who need it most. Their volunteers and staff step up during some of the hardest moments people will ever face, helping them navigate challenges with dignity and care.

Our office works closely with the dedicated volunteers from A Woman’s Place who assist individuals filing Protection From Abuse orders. Their presence and support help make a difficult process a little less overwhelming for those seeking protection and a fresh start.

Thank you to everyone at A Woman’s Place for 50 years of service, advocacy, and commitment to our community. Your work matters, and Bucks County is stronger because of it.

Over the weekend, Prothonotary Donna Petrecco attended the Fallsington Post 834 Public Page Memorial Day Parade in Falls Township alongside Bucks County Government Commissioner Bob Harvie, Bucks County District Attorney's Office Joe Khan, Sen. Steve Santarsiero, and Rep. Jim Prokopiak.

Despite the rainy weather, the community still came together to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day is a time to reflect on their sacrifice, recognize the freedoms they helped protect, and honor the families and loved ones who carry their memory forward. 🇺🇸
