Dracut Open Space Committee The Committee is committed to encouraging and facilitating the preservation and appreciation of Dracut's natural, farm, and recreational lands.

Our mission is sustained through several activities including, but not limited to, those listed here:

Advising the selectmen on the retention or sale of tax lien property as it becomes available

Community education through informational fliers, public forums, and field trips

Promoting Dracut conservation projects by working with town boards and personnel

Coordinate with Intra-State organizatio

ns that encourage open space preservation

Increasing Dracut's open space by informing local landowners of, and helping to secure, land preservation options

Engaging in conservation advocacy and campaigning for preservation or funding, specifically in the news media and at town meetings

Active open space stewardship, including trail-building, trail maintenance, and signage

Strategic long term planning by contributing to the Dracut Open Space and Recreation Plan

SATURDAY February 28th, 10AM, we're hiking the Cross Road/Rifle Range trail to celebrate Dracut's birthday. Park on Cross Road at the sign, carpool if you can, dress for the woods and weather. Snowshoes optional. The trail is a couple miles, but loops around so people can turn back at various points. Refreshments served afterwards. Hope to see you there!

The Dracut Open Space Committee celebrates Dracut's 325th birthday on February 28, 2026.

The committee will host a walk at 10AM at the Cross Road/Rifle Range trails.

Carpooling is suggested. Refreshments to follow.

The terrain is approximately 2 miles of hilly, dense woods off Cross Road and in between Bridge Street and Stonebridge Avenue.
Wear clothing appropriate for the weather and terrain. Snowshoes optional.

FYI, Dracut's birthday is February 26, 1701.

Join the Dracut Library for a Full Moon hike on October 6th at 6PM at Beaver Brook Farm. Make sure to register to be notified of any changes to the hike.

Join the library and Open Space committee for a hike under the full moon! Moonrise is expected just before 6pm with the full moon high in the sky around midnight. We'll meet at the Beaver Brook trailhead at 761 Mammoth Road. Wear comfortable clothing and good shoes; bug spray is recommended.…Lea...
