Water Main Emergency

A contractor working on Lakeview Ave in Tyngsboro, hit the 12" watermain. The water had to be turned off from the Lakeview Ave pump station to Lawrence Rd.
Water will be off until the repair is made. Low pressure or discolored water may occur once the water service is restored. If that occurs, open an outside spigot and run the cold water until it clears. For questions, call DWSD at 978-957-0441.

Water Main Construction Notice - Lakeview Avenue, Tyngsboro
The Dracut Water Supply District's contractor, DeFelice Construction, is scheduled to begin water main improvement work on Lakeview Avenue in Tyngsboro beginning next Tuesday August 4th.
Work will start with modifications at the Lakeview Avenue Pump Station, with excavation and water main installation expected to begin on August 6th.
During this first phase of the project, crews will:
• Install a new 12-inch water main along Lakeview Avenue from approximately 39 Lakeview Avenue to Lawrence Road.
• Continue installation from Lawrence Road to Robert Road.
• Rehabilitate an abandoned 8-inch water main at Robert Road through a relining process.
The District and DeFelice Construction will be working closely with the Town of Tyngsboro to implement appropriate traffic management measures and help minimize disruptions to residents and motorists.
We understand that construction activities may create temporary inconveniences and appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete these important infrastructure improvements. These upgrades will enhance the reliability and long-term performance of the water system and improve water flow and system capacity for residents in the Makos Street and surrounding area.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

UPDATE 7/30/26- The sheet piling is complete. The site will return to normal construction activity and noise level.

Our contractor is currently conducting sheet pile driving operations at the new PFAS Removal treatment plant construction site at 166 Frost Road, Tyngsboro.

Unfortunately, due to thunderstorms on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the contractor was required to stop pile driving operations earlier than anticipated for safety reasons. While rain alone does not prevent this work from occurring, pile driving activities cannot be performed during thunderstorm conditions.

We understand that this work creates noise and vibration and may be disruptive to nearby residents. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. Unfortunately, due to the nature of pile driving operations, there is no practical way to avoid the associated noise and vibration while completing this critical phase of construction. As a result, pile driving operations are expected to continue on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, weather permitting, in order to complete this phase of construction.

This project is necessary to meet federal drinking water regulations addressing PFAS compounds and to ensure the District remains in compliance with upcoming regulatory requirements. The new PFAS treatment facility is being constructed to protect public health and maintain the delivery of safe, high-quality drinking water to our customers.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of our neighbors as this important project moves forward. Additional construction updates will be provided as they become available.
