Fall is an ideal time to make sure your soil has the right biology. Cooler temperatures and the residue left behind after harvest creates the perfect opportunity for microbial activity. When biology is supported now, it works all winter to:

✔️Cycle stalks and residue, freeing up nutrients that would otherwise stay locked away.
✔️Improve soil structure and organic matter, giving roots a better environment next season.
✔️Build nutrient reserves, so your crop has more to work with at planting time.

Think of it this way: if the soil’s biological engine keeps running after harvest, why not make sure it has the fuel it needs? Supporting soil life in the fall is one of the simplest ways to keep your acres working year-round.

What’s happening in your fields this fall could be shaping your yields for next year.

If you are a military veteran, including past veterans and service members interested in farming, this new program in Tennessee can help. Supported by a USDA grant, this collaborative initiative unites Tennessee’s agricultural service providers to offer veterans education, hands-on training, financial resources and mentorships—paving the way for successful farm startups and expansions in rural communities. The first workshop will be May 9th & 10th in Clarksville, TN.
