🏫✨ Please join me in welcoming Driftwood Springs High School to the Dripping Springs ISD family! While the official campus name is now set, final decisions regarding the school colors and mascot have not yet been made.

Stay tuned for those exciting branding updates in the near future.

🔨 The 18+ Adult Transition Center is also moving forward cleanly. The board gave the green light to the revised construction documents for this dedicated facility, finalizing layout adjustments and project manuals to clear local permitting. This milestone keeps the project moving steadily toward its target completion so we can transition our adult learners out of temporary locations and into a permanent facility that will be completed this December!

What an incredible 150-year journey for DSISD! Our history is impressive, but after seeing the talent on display at our Sesquicentennial Celebration, it’s clear our future is even brighter.

A huge thank you to our students—from the Dripping Springs High School artists and Sycamore Springs Middle School jazz band to the Dripping Springs Middle School cheerleaders and elementary speakers—for showcasing the heart of this district. Special thanks to our speakers Kellie Raymond, Ben Ingram, and Ray Whisenant for sharing their stories.

We are especially grateful to ATX Trees for their generous donation of one tree for each of our campuses! By planting these and burying a time capsule for 2076, we are rooting ourselves in the success of the next generation. We aren’t just looking back; we are charging forward!

It is such a joy to serve the Dripping Springs community; I am constantly inspired by the heart and dedication of the people who call this place home. Because our community is so deeply invested, I want to take a moment to address the buzz surrounding the naming and branding of High School #2.

I love seeing the passion behind this! That excitement is a testament to the legacy of DSISD. As we celebrated our district’s 150th anniversary last night, it was a beautiful reminder that for nearly 90 of those years, our traditions and colors have remained a rare constant. This second high school is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to honor that history while thoughtfully shaping our future.

To be very clear: no decision has been made. While there are websites and graphics circulating, the Board has not made a determination, nor have we even received a formal recommendation. This process is just beginning, and any concepts currently online are strictly preliminary.

I want to specifically thank the many parents, students, staff, and community members who have invested significant time and energy into the committee process. This work has required countless hours outside of work and family responsibilities, and we are so grateful for your commitment to our district’s future.

My fellow trustees and I are dedicated to getting this right. We will take the time to listen to your feedback and host focus groups to ensure we create an identity that every student, family, and graduate can be proud of.

Please stay tuned—your voice matters, and there are many more conversations to come!

(This is my own words and not on behalf of the board or district)
