"Captain Sergeant Firefighter Paramedic" Ryan Hintz got a little rescue boat drive time today on Glen Springs Lake. We also gave him some hands-on experience backing trailers and loading boats. Ryan is also a full-time Memphis Firefighter assigned to 19 Engine. We are glad to have him on our team.

With one more evening to go, the Tipton County Special Operations Team participated in a huge water rescue training event, sponsored by Millington Fire Department. B shift went Monday evening, and C shift went Tuesday evening. A shift will wrap up the event tonight. Several Departments from the area met at Edmond Orgill Lake, in north Shelby County, to learn different scenarios such as low angle rescue, roof cutting on the water, and victim locating. Great teamwork with Germantown Fire Department, Millington Fire Department, Collierville Fire & Rescue, Shelby County Fire Department, Shelby County Sheriff's Office and many others. Thank you to Chief Graves and Chief Franks for inviting Tipton County to participate.

Tipton County Fire Department Station 42 had their Grand Opening this past Saturday. Several of the Tipton County Commissioners cooked hamburgers and hotdogs for members of the community that stopped in to see the upgrades to the building and meet their County Fire Department. Former Charleston VFD Board Members and Commissioners also participated in the "Fire Hose Uncoupling", taking place of the traditional Ribbon Cutting. Several Charleston locals and neighboring fire departments came by to meet with everyone, enjoy great food and tour the new facilities. We also want to thank Action News 5 for coming out and doing interviews with local community members. This was a great event for everyone that was able to make it out. Thank you for everyone involved in making this event and transfer of emergency services possible.

Tipton County Fire Department Station 41 had an early morning structure fire in the Drummonds area. There was no one home at the time, so no injuries were reported. The house sustained damage but it is believed to be salvageable. Our hearts go out to the family that suffered the property loss. Thanks to Munford Fire Department, AtokA Fire Department, Gilt Edge Volunteer Fire Department, Sheriff Shannon Beasley, and Baptist Tipton Ambulance. Three Star Volunteer Fire Department and Covington, TN Fire Department were requested early on, but disregarded prior to their arrival. Video provided by Tipton 5.

There have a been a few water rescues on Glen Springs Lake in Drummonds recently, with no reported injuries. Just remember, if you get on the lake with nothing but a trolling motor and the wind picks up, you may have trouble getting back to the boat ramp. This has happened a few times and when it does, it requires assistance from your local Fire Department. Ended up being a good lesson for the boaters and good training for the Firefighters.
