09/05/2026 Saturday

The City of Drumright completed 130 gas meters turned on yesterday with several door hangers for people who were not home.

On September 4, 2026, one of our employees was assaulted by a large dog while attempting to perform his duties. He was transported to the hospital for treatment of a dog bite. Thankfully, he is now home and recovering from his injuries.
Please understand that turning on a gas meter is not a quick process. Each meter takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete from start to finish. With the number of meters that need to be restored, this process takes considerable time.
Currently, we have three crews working to restore gas services.
Because of the number of meters and the time required at each location, there is no way to predict exactly when a crew will arrive at a particular address. Our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore everyone’s gas service.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through the remaining meters. Our priority is to restore service safely to everyone who has been affected.

Natural Gas Service Interruption — City of Drumright

On Monday, August 31, 2026, the City of Drumright was notified that the main natural gas line serving the city had been struck by an individual operating a backhoe. City personnel and emergency services responded to the scene, located on the West Truck Route east of Smathers Street on the south side of the roadway.

The gas supply to the damaged line has been shut off, and city personnel are currently working to repair the damaged 6-inch gas line. This incident has affected natural gas services throughout the City of Drumright. This has affected 991 gas meters, covering more than 65 miles of service lines, including Drumright, Olive, Oak Grove, and Schlegel.

Once repairs are completed and service can be safely restored, the city will prioritize restoring gas services to critical facilities, including hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and businesses, before restoring service to residential areas.

Crews estimate that repairs to the gas line will be completed by approximately 3:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, September 1. After repairs are completed, crews will remove air from the gas line and verify that the line is fully repaired and safe. The gas turn-on process will then begin.

Residents should be prepared for an extended interruption in natural gas service and should follow any additional instructions issued by the city.
Please note: Someone must be present at your residence before gas service can be turned back on.

The City of Drumright appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as crews work to safely repair the damaged line and restore natural gas service throughout the community.
