We would like to address our clients we service in Perry and Jackson county, our goal is to provide every individual and family with a more effective, courteous, prompt, and welcoming experience when seeking rental assistance services. Changes have been made, and we are committed to moving forward in a positive direction and strengthening the support we provide to our community. Our new funding year for assistance will begin mid-July, and we look forward to serving the residents of Perry and Jackson Counties to the fullest of our potential and helping those in need with compassion, professionalism, promptness, and most importantly respect. We just ask for patience and understanding as we move towards a brighter future.

🌪️TORNADO WATCH has been issued for parts of Southern Illinois until 9 p.m. This watch includes Franklin, Hamilton, Jackson, Jefferson, Perry, Randolph, and White counties.

Tornado Safety !!! As all of us know ! Today is the day folks for bad weather! So don't stand on your porch and look out and get swept away. Let's talk Tornado Safety:

Before a Tornado

Make sure all family members know the tornado safe location in your home
Store an emergency kit in your safe location
Identify where to go if you are at work or school
Make a family communications plan (especially if you are not all together)

During a Tornado

Go to a safe location away from windows on the lowest level of a sturdy building
If you are caught outside, get in a car, buckle up and try to drive to the closest sturdy shelter (only if the tornado is not close enough)
Never seek shelter under a bridge and only lie flat in a ditch as a last resort
Go to a secure storm shelter if you are in a mobile home

Preparing your pets

Get your pets ready at the first sign of an approaching storm
Put your dog on a leash and your cat in a carrier
Move all pets to the shelter well ahead of the storm
Include pet food and medicines in your emergency kit

After a Tornado

Beware of downed power lines, broken gas lines and sharp/dangerous objects
Avoid damaged area
Stay off the roads to allow rescue workers clear passage
Follow instructions from local officials

Not only are there severe storm potential for tornadoes; but also for flash flooding. Things you might want to think about when flooding is a issue:
1. Never Drive through Flood Waters.
2. Do not drive around barricades.
3. Most flood fatalities occur in a vehicle.
4. 12 inches of water can sweep a car off the road.
5. Turn around don't drown.
6. Never walk, play, or swim in flood waters.
7. 6 inches of flood water can knock a grown adult off their feet.
