Dublin has been fortunate to host a series of discussions on the growth of artificial intelligence (AI) over the last few years. Yesterday evening a panel of industry experts discussed the development of autonomous AI (systems that act independently of human intervention) the current reality of this technology, and its future expectations.
Artificial intelligence is changing the workplace fast, but what does it mean for our community's jobs?
Right now, many companies are using AI to automate office and administrative tasks to boost their short-term profits. Unfortunately, the immediate side effect has been workforce reductions.
Is this a painful disruption? Absolutely. Is it a permanent loss of jobs? Likely not, as the economy shifts.
It is encouraging to think that these AI tools might someday solve massive problems, like curing diseases in the healthcare industry. Billions of dollars are pouring into the tech sector with huge long-term expectations.
But time will tell. While tech companies look to the future, my focus is locked entirely on the present: protecting our local workforce and ensuring stable, sustainable employment for Dublin families.
Where do you see AI making the biggest impact in your workplace? Let me know in the comments.
