Laurens County Sheriff’s Office K9 Tango has received donation of body armor

Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, GA, K9 Tango has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9’s Inc. K9 Tango’s vest was sponsored by Don and Misty Fike of Galesburg, IL and embroidered with the sentiment “Born to Love-Trained to Serve-Loyal Always”.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 6,225 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states, made possible by both private and corporate donations.

The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $1,050 will sponsor one vest. Each vest has a value of $1800.00, weighs an average of 4-5 lbs., and comes with a five-year warranty. For more information or to learn about volunteer opportunities, please call (508) 824-6978. May is the last month to purchase tickets before the drawing begins in June. If you would like to support the team, you can reach out to Cody Edge, or any other Deputy. You can also call the office or come by the office. Thank You for your support.

🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

We’ve been made aware of fraudulent “court enforcement” notices circulating by text message and possibly mail.

These notices may appear official, but here are some clear warning signs:
❌ No name, address, or vehicle information listed
❌ Vague or multiple “violations” with no details
❌ Mismatched locations (example: Georgia vs. Missouri courts)
❌ Urgent threats demanding immediate payment
❌ QR codes or links to pay fines
❌ Sent via text message

⚠️ IMPORTANT:
Legitimate courts and law enforcement agencies WILL NOT:

* Send traffic violation notices by text message
* Ask you to pay fines through QR codes
* Threaten immediate license suspension without proper legal process

If you receive one of these:
✔️ DO NOT scan the QR code
✔️ DO NOT click any links
✔️ DO NOT send payment
✔️ Verify directly with your local court or law enforcement agency

If you’re unsure, contact your local Sheriff’s Office or Police Department before taking any action.

Help us spread the word and protect others from falling victim.
