As a Trustee at Georgia College & State University I want to let you know about an important initiative going on state-wide. Georgia communities are coming together for a special online giving event called Georgia Gives Day. If you would, please take a moment and visit https://gagivesday.org/c/GGD. On the right hand side of the page you will be able to find the Georgia College Foundation. This is the first year for this initiative sponsored by the Georgia Center for Nonprofits. Each gift that is made, regardless of amount, will help Georgia College. Further, the organization within Baldwin County with the most donations received will be awarded a grant of $2500 from the Community Foundation of Central Georgia.
I am asking for your support of Georgia College but Georgia Gives Day is really about us all – it’s about everyone pulling together to support the organizations and causes right in our own backyards and across the state that have been a part of our lives since day one. Choose your favorite nonprofit and consider making a donation, chances are, your life has been affected by a nonprofit. From the hospitals where we are born, to the day care centers, schools and colleges that educate us. From the clubs, sports leagues and cultural institutions that entertain us, to the religious institutions we worship in. From the invisible impact of groups working on literacy, hunger, blight, disease, disability and job development, to programs that train our doctors and police and rally volunteer firefighters, to groups that fight for our voice and for justice. From the preservation of our great landmarks, to parks and paths, farmers markets and pet adoption, hospice providers and historic cemeteries….many nonprofits work tirelessly everyday.
