We feel that it is our job to promote fire prevention and safety.

We ask that everyone keep up with any legislation that makes firefighting in North Carolina more dangerous.

🚨To all the fine folks in Dublin, (including those who claim Dublin, but may not have the postal address of Dublin (which let's be honest is a travesty)) 🚨

If you have found yourself sitting around wondering what you could be doing, if you want to have a sense of purpose outside of the household, if you maybe just want to drive a firetruck, we may have an opportunity for you.
We volunteer for different reasons, we volunteer to kill time, serve our community, socialize, learn. We also volunteer because we have the opportunity to positively affect someone's life, on possibly the worst day they have ever had.
We cater to hobbies as well, if you like tinkering on an engine, engineering new innovative tools, even cooking is a trait we greatly appreciate.

At the end of the day, we try to help, but we need help to help do that. We need volunteers, we need new voices, new ideas, new faces, new firefighters. Regardless of if you are in Dublin or maybe another part of the county, or state, your local fire department could most likely use your help. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

🌪️If you have questions, just reach out, we are happy to answer. ⚡

🚨Well Folks the burn ban is set to be lifted.🚨

While it is great that we received some much needed rain, the threat of fire will remain.Would not be surprised if the moisture is gone by Monday, so please use caution as you burn your natural vegetation piles.

So Please:

🚨 Have a water source available when burning.
🚨 Dirt typically doesn’t burn, use it to your advantage.
🚨 You can be heavily fined if you burn anything other than NATURAL VEGETATION!.
🚨 We have weather channels, apps, and social media pages, take a look before you burn.
🚨 If you hear the term "Cold Front " or "Thunder Storm" or "Windy" , well, in the words of Bill Engvall, theres your sign.. not to burn.

As always we appreciate each and every one of you who show your support for the Fire Department and the effort that goes into keeping it going.

Hopefully you follow our tips and we dont have to show up, but if we do, just know we will be ready.

Hasta La Vista

Why does Dublin Fire Department test fire hydrants?

We measure water flow & pressure to ensure strong supply during fires. It catches issues early, keeps hydrants working, and helps maintain our ISO Public Protection Classification (PPC) rating—which can lower insurance premiums for the community. We currently are at a ISO class 5 so thats great, but we strive to maintain and go lower if possible.

Testing + flushing = better fire protection. The peace of mind that your fire hydrants work is priceless.

We will be out and about in Dublin today!

Thanks for your patience and remember if you see flashy lights SLOW DOWN! 🚨🚨🚨🚨🔥

THURSDAY MORNING FIRE UPDATE: Cherry County Emergency Management is asking residents to report any smoke by calling 911 after multiple fires broke out across the area Wednesday.

At one point, evacuations were ordered in three locations — Whitman, Atkinson, and parts of Cherry County near Calf Creek Road between Highway 97 and Whitman Road. All evacuation orders have since been lifted, and residents have been allowed to return home.

Some road closures remain in effect. As of Thursday morning, Nebraska 511 reports Highway 11 south of Atkinson is still closed. (8:00 a.m. update-The highway is back open.)

According to Watch Duty, the largest fire in Cherry County — now called the Andrews Fire — burned an estimated 2,500 acres.

Near Atkinson, the fire also caused a power outage. Niobrara Valley Electric temporarily shut off power to the Swan Lake and Chambers substations, including the town of Chambers, so crews could assess potential damage. Power has since been restored, but anyone still without electricity is asked to contact the office at 402-336-2803.

The total acreage for the Whitman-area fire has not yet been released, but it prompted a large emergency response due to its proximity to homes and other structures. Fire departments from Gordon and Rushville were among those called in for mutual aid.
