Licensed barbers who were required to complete continuing education (CE) hours and did not complete all of those hours by August 15th will be unable to renew their license until new courses become available. New CE courses for the 2028 renewal cycle will be available beginning September 1st.

NOTE: Partial hours completed prior the August 15th deadline will not be accepted.

Licenses must be renewed by August 31st to remain current and active and to avoid the assessment of late fees.

• 1 Hour Board Laws & Rules-Barber Version
• 3 Hours Infection Control & Safety- Barbers

Must be completed by August 15, 2026.

License Renewal is a Two-Step Process

Step 1
Complete all required CE hours. Completed CE hours are reported to CE Broker by the Provider of the CE class.

Step 2
Log in to your Elicense account at elicense.ohio.gov
to complete the renewal application and submit fee(s).

Barber licenses expire on August 31st of this year. Please keep in mind that license renewal is a two-step process:

to complete the renewal application and submit fee(s).

2026 CE Requirements: Must be completed by August 15, 2026.
CE Classes are available until 8:00 pm on August 15th.

• 1 Hour Board Laws & Rules-Barber Version
• 3 Hours Infection Control & Safety- Barbers

CE Hours are NOT required if you meet one (1) of the following exemptions:

• Turned 65 years of age or older before May 2, 2026.
• Held an Ohio Barber license for 30 years or more before May 2, 2026.

o (Original License Issuance Date Must be 1996 or before)
• This is the first time renewing your Ohio License.

Note: The Board verifies completion of all required Continuing Education (CE) hours through CE Broker before a license can be renewed. CE Providers must report attendance within 10 days of completion. If your hours are not posted in CE Broker, you cannot complete the online renewal.
