Dubuque County has announced the appointment of Jered Shipley as its new Information Technology Director, following a comprehensive recruitment process that attracted 40 applicants from across the region. Shipley has been part of Dubuque County’s IT Department since 2015, serving in roles including Help Desk Manager, Systems Administrator, and IT Operations Manager. He has also served twice as Interim IT Director, most recently providing steady leadership during the County’s current technology transition.

In his new role, Shipley will oversee countywide technology operations, cybersecurity, infrastructure modernization, and ongoing support for more than 400 users across 20 departments. “Jered’s experience and proven leadership within the organization make him well-suited to guide the County’s technology efforts,” said Human Resources Director Chelsea Greene. “His focus on collaboration, security, and modernization will continue to strengthen our ability to serve Dubuque County.”

“I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve as Dubuque County’s IT Director and I’m excited to keep improving the technology and systems that help our departments serve the community every day,” Shipley said.

Shipley is a graduate of the University of Dubuque with a Bachelor of Science degree and has more than 15 years of experience in public and private-sector technology leadership. He officially assumed the role of IT Director on October 6, 2025.

Notice of Intent to Fill the Vacancy of the Dubuque County Recorder by Appointment

The Dubuque County Supervisors are taking applications to fill the vacant office of the Dubuque County Recorder.

Persons interested in the appointment should submit a letter of interest and resume to [email protected], not later than 4:30 pm on Friday, August 1, 2025. Please note that the email subject line must include “Recorder Application”.

Residency in Dubuque County for at least 60-days is required at the time of the appointment, and throughout the length of the term.

The Board of Supervisors will conduct interviews of selected applicants on Friday, August 8th in a closed session starting at 1:00 pm.

The appointment made by the Supervisors will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025 at 9:00 am.
