VOTE YES. NOW IS THE TIME.

At the polls tomorrow we have a chance to impact the lives of the kids in Dubuque for decades to come. We have a chance to leave a legacy.

It's never going to get any cheaper. NOW is the time do it. NOW is the right time to make it happen.

This is the best option. The district has a history of renovating. Senior High, Hempstead High, example after example. If renovation was the best option, they would renovate. It's not a feasible or responsible option here.

A no vote does not send them back to the drawing board to consider a renovation. A no vote means systematic changes to the detriment of our schools and students.

This school is the school our kids deserve. It's the school Dubuque deserves. Let's come together as a community and believe! Let's invest in something bigger than ourselves.

We can do it Dubuque. VOTE YES tomorrow!

When someone says “the building doesn’t matter, it’s what happens inside that counts,” they’re setting up a false choice between teaching quality and learning environment. It implies we have to pick one, or that one cancels out the other, when in reality they’re deeply connected.

It’s also a reductive, emotionally manipulative argument dressed up to sound humble or fiscally responsible while ignoring decades of research showing that the physical environment directly affects learning outcomes, teacher retention, and student well-being.

Of course teaching and learning are the heart of a school, but the building is the environment that supports them. The national study by Perkins Eastman and Drexel University found that modernized schools consistently outperform older ones in reading, math, and graduation trends, and that better air quality, lighting, and acoustics directly improve focus, attendance, and achievement.

The question isn’t whether great teaching can happen in an old building — it’s whether we should keep asking teachers and students to make do when we know that better environments lead to better outcomes.

Great teachers can do incredible things anywhere, but that doesn’t mean we should keep them in outdated, inefficient, or unsafe spaces. The building does matter, because it’s part of what helps great teaching and learning happen.

And let’s not forget the role a school plays beyond the classroom. It’s a place for community events, athletics, performances, and connection. When we invest in a modern school, we’re not just improving learning conditions; we’re strengthening the fabric of the entire community.
