Dubuque County and cities within Dubuque County will be participating in the annual statewide tornado drill. This is a great time to practice your shelter in place plans at school, home or work. The drill also gives local public safety the opportunity to test alert and warning systems.

Please share that this is going to be a test only.

Reminder: Iowa tornado drill TODAY at 10am! Outdoor siren activation will vary by jurisdiction. Some TV/radio stations may briefly cut into programming. No wireless emergency alerts or push notifications on phones. Test your safety plan at home, work, or school! 🌪️

Please be aware of the approaching severe weather this evening and ensure you have multiple ways to receive updates. Stay safe.

Severe thunderstorms are expected between 6 PM and 12 AM. Damaging winds of 60 to 80 plus mph and isolated tornadoes are the primary threats. These storms will be moving at over 60 mph, so you will have very little time to seek shelter. Be ready to act quickly!

Tomorrow night

Over the past few months we have been working with Dubuque County emergency response to plan a drill for an active threat situation. Epworth Elementary was selected as the location to host this drill. This has been a great opportunity to continue to partner with emergency response teams to refine our response plans and strengthen our partnerships. These drills are a requirement from the state for our emergency response teams. Please be aware if you see activity around Epworth Elementary during this time it is part of our scheduled drill.
