The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office employs 50 people, 37 of whom are Sworn Officers. Fifteen Law Enforcement Officers patrol, answer calls, and conduct investigations throughout the County which is an area of 3,256 square miles. The Enforcement section is comprised of ten Patrol Deputies, one Truck Enforcement Deputy and one Civil Process/Court Deputy. The Sheriff’s Office also provides Animal C

ontrol Services throughout the County, including contracts with Duchesne City to house their impounds, and full services to Myton City, and the Towns of Altamont and Tabiona. One Special Functions Officer currently provides all Animal Control Services.

🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

The Duchesne County Sheriff's Office has received reports of individuals posing as Duchesne County deputies and contacting residents by phone. The caller claims there is an active warrant for the person's arrest and demands immediate payment to avoid being taken into custody.

⚠️ THIS IS A SCAM. ⚠️

The Duchesne County Sheriff's Office will NEVER call you to demand payment for a warrant, missed jury duty, fines, or any other legal matter. We do not accept payment over the phone, through gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, or payment apps.

If you receive a call like this:
• Hang up immediately.
• Do not provide personal or financial information.
• Do not send money.
• Report the incident to local law enforcement.

Scammers often use caller ID spoofing to make it appear as though they are calling from a legitimate government or law enforcement number. Even if the number looks official, do not trust the caller.

Please share this post to help protect your friends, family, and neighbors from becoming victims of fraud.

🚔 As we head into the weekend, the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office wants everyone to have a fun-filled and enjoyable time — but most importantly, to stay safe.

Through the end of May, law enforcement agencies across Utah are participating in the Click It or Ticket Campaign reminding everyone to buckle up every trip, every time. Seat belts save lives.

As we head into Memorial Day Weekend, the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone to celebrate responsibly and stay safe.

Memorial Day weekend is statistically one of the deadliest weekends of the year for serious injuries and fatal crashes. If you choose to drink, please do so responsibly and never drink and drive. Plan ahead, use a designated driver, and watch out for one another.

We want everyone to enjoy the long holiday weekend while honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Duchesne Elementary held its D.A.R.E. graduation today for students in Ms. Ewell, Ms. Clyde and Ms. Roberts’ classes. Congratulations to essay winners Rocklyn Iorg, Emily Clayburn, and Camberly Rowley!

SRO Kevin Priebe presented certificates and treated the students to a pizza and ice cream party to celebrate their accomplishments.

To top off the day, in coordination with the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office and Uintah Basin EMS, students also learned valuable life-saving skills.

Deputies and staff in attendance included Sgt. Misti Duncan, Sgt. Ryan Hunter, Lt. Carl Reilly, A/C Kayden Jenkins, and Probation Officer Elizabeth Richens, along with all the parents who came to support their children.

It was a great graduation celebration and a wonderful day for everyone involved!

BURGLARY & THEFT – PUBLIC ASSISTANCE REQUESTED

The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a burglary and theft that occurred on April 19, 2026, in the morning hours near 6000 South 19750 West in Duchesne County.

The suspect was seen driving a red passenger vehicle, captured on video and in photographs.

Items reported stolen include:
• Swagtron D4 scooter (valued at $1,500)
• Two (2) five-gallon fuel cans
• Four (4) flats of soda

We are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect or the vehicle involved. If you recognize this vehicle or have any information related to this case, please contact the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office and reference Case # M26-0895.

On April 1, 2026, the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with Tri-County Health, conducted a joint compliance operation in Duchesne City focused on preventing illegal sales to minors.

During the investigation, it was determined that Best Convenience was selling va**ng products and other prohibited items to juveniles. Authorities also confirmed the business was operating without a valid license.

The store owner was taken into custody and is currently facing criminal charges.

We remain committed to safeguarding the health and well-being of our community—especially our youth—and will continue working with our partners to address violations and promote a safe environment for all.
