Charolette Ann Allen
October 4, 1950 – August 1, 2026
Charolette Ann Allen, 75, of Duchesne, Utah, died peacefully on August 1, 2026, at Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Salt Lake City, after a long illness with pancreatic cancer.
She was born October 4, 1950, in Heber City, Utah, to Harry Robert "Bob" Smith and Florence I. Jares, the second of three daughters. Raised in Hanna, she attended school in Tabiona through junior high, then joined her older sister at Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, where she was active in drama club and student council. Her junior year she met Richard Jones. They married thirteen months after graduation.
Richard's work with the National Park Service moved the family often, and Char took up Girl Scout leadership in state after state. They had two children, Clay and April, and divorced in 1979.
Char returned to Duchesne and went to work at her parents' El Cid Restaurant, where she met Mel Allen, the love of her life. They married in the spring of 1980, and she gained five bonus children: Lynn, Teresa, Melanie, Bodi, and Danny. Their son Cole was born in 1983. During her working years, she served as a dispatcher and bookkeeper for Mel’s business, Allen Brothers Trucking.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Duchesne, serving in many positions over the years and teaching Bible study and Vacation Bible School, and she gave many years to both Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.
She is survived by her children, Clay (Melissa) Jones of Denver, Colorado; April Jones of Somerville, Massachusetts; Cole (Nikki) Allen of Roosevelt, Utah; Teresa (Clint) Larsen of Draper, Utah; and Lynn Allen, Melanie (Travis) Peterson, Bodi (Lona) Allen, and Danny (Deanie) Allen, all of Duchesne, Utah; 27 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and one on the way; 3 great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Jeanie (Jake) Jacobson of Colorado and Bobbie Smith of Washington; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mel Allen; her parents; her grandparents; her grandsons Andrew and Claine; and many other family members.
A viewing will be held Thursday, August 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hullinger Mortuary, 680 South 700 East, Roosevelt, Utah. Graveside services will be Friday, August 7, at 11:00 a.m. at the Tabiona Cemetery in Tabiona, Utah, followed by a luncheon at the Tabiona Church at noon.
Purple was Char's favorite color. Those attending the viewing or the services are warmly invited to wear it.
Char and the family thanks Darlene Allen, Jodi Reinhardt, Sherry Thompson, Pastor Carl and Sherry Wimmer, and all her church family, along with Canyon Home Health and Hospice and the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
