🔥 Fire Safety Reminder – Illegal Dumping of Burn Materials 🔥

Over the past several weeks, multiple piles of burned wood, charcoal, and fire debris like the ones pictured have been dumped behind the Navajo Dumpsters.

While these materials may appear cold and extinguished, buried embers can remain hot for days and even reignite when exposed to oxygen and dry vegetation. Dumping fire debris in grassy or wooded areas creates a serious wildfire risk and has the potential to start a large, fast-moving fire that threatens our community, homes, and natural resources.

Please remember:

🚫 Do not dispose of ashes, charcoal, or fire pit debris on the ground or in roadside areas.

🔥 We are currently under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions. Only approved fires are allowed, and all fires must be attended and completely extinguished.

💧 If disposing of ashes or charcoal, follow the Drown, Stir, Feel, Repeat method:
• Drown the material with plenty of water
• Stir thoroughly
• Feel for heat
• Repeat until the material is cold to the touch

If you witness illegal dumping or unsafe fire behavior, please report it.

It only takes one ember to start a wildfire. Let’s all do our part to keep Cedar Mountain safe this fire season. 🌲🚒🔥
