Golf carts, not to be confused with low- speed vehicles, are a fun and convenient way to get around Town, but to keep our community safe, they must meet specific regulations. That’s why the Town of Duck requires all golf carts to be registered and equipped with proper safety features before operating on public streets.

Why register?

👉Helps protect drivers, passengers, and pedestrians
👉Promotes responsible use within Town limits
👉Important safety requirements

To be registered, golf carts must have:
👉A windshield, seat belts for all passengers & a rear-view mirror
👉An operable parking brake & a maximum of 3 rows of seats
👉If driving at night: headlights, taillights with brake lights, & reflectors

Common violations to avoid
👉Driving on NC Highway 12 (except to cross)
👉Allowing drivers under 16 years old
👉Exceeding 20 mph or overloading the cart
👉Operating recklessly or with open alcohol containers
