November 13th was , but did you know this week is week?

Life as a teenager or young adult can be stressful, but the stress heightens around holiday season.

1 in 30 adolescent minors (roughly 700,000 aged 13-17) will face homelessness each year
1 in 10 young adults (roughly 3.5 million aged 18-25) will face homelessness each year

10% of teenage girls and 14% teenage boys have reported their families don’t have enough to eat

This can lead to a higher risk of vulnerability for a person to become isolated, bullied, become violent, or even radicalized.

Let’s treat everyone with kindness everyday, and remind others they don’t have to deal with their struggles alone.

Connected4Change was created to help minimize targeted violence throughout schools.

We want to share some info from 2020 that was released on the U.S. Department of Justice website that will help express why there is a need for us.

These are the bias motivators behind 2020’s hate crimes.

61.8% - race/ethnicity/ancestry
20.0% - sexual orientation
13.3% - religion
2.7% - gender identity
1.4% - disability
0.7% - gender

4.2% of these hate crimes happened at school alone. This means that out of the 11,126 victims, almost 470 victims were hate crimed at school, a place a student should feel safe.

We aim to bring unity through community as well as solidarity into our school systems.

Hi everyone! Thank you for following us along this journey and watching our progress with us.

Connected4Change is a group of MSC students at Nichols College. We joined together in this project to help stop targeted violence amongst high school students and help end isolation.

We will be sharing progress of our findings, sharing experiences of those students involved, and overall how effective and impactful this program was and may continue to be.

This is a subject that is vastly important to this team and we’re excited that our project has gotten the green light to officially begin!
