Press Release May 26, 2026

On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at approximately 6:56 a.m., Dudley Police responded to Southbridge Road (Route 131) for a reported motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle. Dudley EMS and Fire were also dispatched.

On arrival, officers located a damaged motorcycle and a vehicle in the roadway. A Massachusetts State Police trooper and a passerby were rendering CPR to the motorcycle operator. The operator was transported by Dudley EMS to UMASS Memorial–Harrington and subsequently airlifted by LifeFlight to UMASS Medical Center. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Sgt. Philip Megas and CEMLEC accident reconstruction is investigating the accident. Any questions can be directed to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.

We are seeking assistance in identifying the individuals involved in the theft of an ATV from a residence on Greenwood Ave. at approximately 5:00 a.m.

Residents in the area are encouraged to review any available security camera footage that may aid in the investigation. Any information or video evidence would be greatly appreciated.

We thank Mr. Adrian Lara for completing his internship with the Dudley Police Department. During his placement, Adrian supported daily operations and worked with Sergeant Philip Megas on updating department inventory and revising policies and procedures in support of our certification efforts. Adrian is currently enrolled in the Criminal Justice program at Nichols College and serves part‑time as a dispatcher with the Douglas Police Department.
